I'm going to reply to what you said in my journal here, just to make it quicker: I noted your comments on MLK day with interest. I had a similar experience...it's in my journal from that day.The Uncut cd sounds interesting indeed. I'd heard Mary Lee's Corvette...they apparently did the entire "Blood on the Tracks" album, just their re-renderings of it. I guess it got some good attention. I was especially intrugued by the Gillian Welch take on "Trying to Get to Heaven," being a fan of hers. Obviously, there's so darn many covers of his stuff. You might be interested in an anthology that someone sent me a copy of on tape...I need to stretch to remember, but as I recall, it was a bunch of indie rock/punk covers of Dylan by bands that someone thought were worthwhile at the time. I recall it being very interesting...more interesting than most of the Dylan covers compilations out there just because of who was doing the material and how. You'd probably like it...I did. I need to dig it out. Too bad it's on cassette..that's why it's gathering dust in a corner at my parents' house!Did you hear thah Scrocese is doing a 4-hour Dylan documentary?? That might be worth noting on the "news" section, I don't know. Perhaps it's already being discussed at vagrant, too. Anyway, I'm pretty darn excited. About 8 years ago, I'd have been having convulsions...my life would have been on hold in breathless anticipation, hehe! Yeah, I heard about the documentary thing a while ago and it's exciting. I forget what it's called but Dylan's also making some movie about himself where he plays different characters. I don't actually think that's quite it but I forget. And I'm lazy.
Anyway, I'll have to figure out which compilation that is. Allmusic.com should be of help. I burned the comp and will send it (along with a bunch of other stuff) one of these days...
more soon, I hope...i also need to reply to your email.
